Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council
"I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout."
- The Girl Scout Law
GSSJC is the third-largest Girl Scout Council in the United States and is headquartered in Houston, Texas. GSSJC serves 56,000 girls and 17,000 adult volunteers in an area that covers twenty-six counties in southeast Texas. Girls range from kindergarten through high school and participate in six different grade-based levels through a wide assortment of activities, events, and participation methods.
The Mission of GSSJC, and indeed every Council in Girl Scouts USA, is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who will make the world a better place. While you may know about the annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale, you may not know about the actual program. Girl Scouts is more than just cookies!
Girl Scouts teaches girls skills in four main areas:
-
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
-
Outdoors
-
Life Skills
-
